Above & Beyond - Only You

Only you.

In the stillness of an empty room
In the face of every settled moon
In everything that comes apart
You rise and fall, in my heart

In the mornings invitation
In impromptu celebrations
In every mainstay
On every holiday
In every single doorway, there's you.

There's you
There's only you
Always you

Yamla Jatt - Tere Ni Karara Mainu Pateya

Lyrics with translation:

http://zouve.com/forum/lyrics/punjabi/punabi-lyrics-and-translations/4608-tere-ni-kararan-mainu-patteya-das-main-ki-pyar-wichon-khateya-lyrics-yamla-jatt

Tere Ni Karara Mainu Puteya
Tere Ni Karara Mainu Puteya
Das Main Ki Pyar Wichon Kuhteya
Tere Ni Karara Mainu Puteya

Your promises cost me dearly
Your promises cost me dearly
Tell me what did I gain from love
Your promises cost me dearly

Ishq Valeh Paiseh Diya Nurda Kilar Ke
Ishq Valeh Paiseh Diya Nurda Kilar Ke
Jith Gayeeh Eh Tu Asi Baige Baiji Har Ke
Mainu Vekh Kamzor Tera Chal Gaya Zor
Taheo Mu Tu Sajan Kolo Vuteya
Das Main Ki Pyar Wichon Kuhteya
Das Main Ki Pyar Wichon Kuhteya

You scattered the pieces of the chess board of love (This was a game played in old times which was sort of a mixture of chess and poker. In this verse the writer is trying to say to the girl that she has scattered the pieces of this chessboard of love and she has one the game and he has lost)

You scattered the pieces of the chess board of love
You have won and I have lost
Upon seeing that I am weak, you exploited that
That is why you turned away from your lover
Tell me what did I gain from love
Tell me what did I gain from love

Ashqan Da Kam Hunda Laa Ke Nibhan Da
Jehda Jahve Chad Ohnu Mehne Eh Jahan Da
Ni Tu Roshni Vikhake Mainu Dukha Vich Pahke
Nal Lahoo Tu Sahir Vicho Chateya
Das Main Ki Pyar Wichon Kuhteya
Main Ki Pyar Vicho Kuhteya

It is the job of a lover to fulfil his/her promises
That who leaves the other stranded gets to hear the torments of the world
You made me see light but had me go through suffering
And you licked away blood from the desert
Tell me what did I gain from love
Tell me what did I gain from love

Sasi Sohni Shree Vang Tu Vi Kuj Soch Ni
Lehla Vangu Tuhteeyeh Na Maas Sada Nauch Ni
Para Chad Eh Uhdava Teinu Akha Ch’ Buhava
Teri Roop Di Katari Mainu Pateya
Das Main Ki Pyar Wichon Kuhteya
Tereya Ni Karara Mainu Puteya
Main Ki Pyar Vicho Kuhteya

Think like Sassi, Sohni and Shiri
Don’t pick on my skin like Laila
Put this attitude of yours on the side and let me have you live in my eyes
Your beauty has mesmerized me
Tell me what did I gain from love
Your promises cost me dearly
Tell me what did I gain from love

Oh Gal Kar Loki Gaun Ni Kahaniyeh
Oh Gal Kar Loki Gaun Ni Kahaniyeh
Tokra Na Mar Mehtho Sayeen Naeyo Jania
Meinu Teri Ni Judai Kar Chadeya Shuhdayee
Nala Yamla Buna Ke Para Sateya
Das Main Ki Pyar Cho Kuhteya
Tere Ni Karara Mainu Pateya

Live in such a manner that people say legends about you
Live in such a manner that people say legends about you
Don’t treat me badly as I won’t be able to surive them
Our separation has made me crazy
It made me Yamla and threw me away
Tell me what did I gain from love
Your promises cost me dearly

Music That Was Naught - Kangal Neeye & Nadaan

Kangal Neeye from Muppozhudhum Un Karpanaigal, and Nadaan by Bayaan are two songs that sound like something and mean something else altogether.
Kangal Neeye is about a mother's love (womp), not some heightened sexual romp like I imagined. :/ Beautiful nonetheless.

Nadaan is a song about a country's struggles - Pakistan in particular. Not about heartbreak. Amazing vocals, guitar.

Lesson learnt.

Lord Huron - When The Night Is Over

My one and only love
I've been lonely long enough
Will I find you when the night is over?
Tell me where did you go?
I've been searching high and low
I have only 'til the night is over
In every window, I pass
Your reflection in the glass
Makes me wonder if my mind is going
Shadows shifting in the rain
Slowly driving me insane
By the stars above, I know we were in love
I have only 'til the night is over
I feel the weather change
I hear the river say your name
I watch the birds fly by
I see an emerald in the sky
Now how the trail has gone cold
I don't know where else to go
And my time, I fear, is nearly over
When the ocean drinks the sky
And the city winks its eye
When the night is done, you'll vanish in the sun
Will I hold you when the night is over?
Am I lost inside my mind?
There's an emerald in the sky
I hear the river say your name
By the stars above, I know we were in love
I hear the river say your name
I have only 'til the night is over

Risk by Metric

So you got away
Something brought you back
To the kid that you were
For a couple days
Everything you lacked
You possessed
It was yours
Started slow
Started late
Started strong
Then we lost faith
Started slow
Started to lose control
The more we accelerate
With your hollow eyes
You keep coming back
It begins to transform
Can you spend the night?
Can you be the raft
In the eye of the storm?
Started slow
Started late
Started strong
Then we lost faith
Started slow
Started to lose control
The more we accelerate
The more we accelerate
Can I send this kiss right to you now?
'Cause the risk belongs with you somehow
Can I return this kiss that you gave?
Already know it's borrowed anyway
Was the risk I sent to you received?
All the words we say to be believed?
I'm already over the thrill of pursuit
Where can I take the risk I took with you?
Send this kiss to someone new?
So you're beaten up
But you bounce back
It's all part of the pull
And the story runs
Like a soundtrack
We repeat 'til we're full
Started slow
Started late
Started strong
Then we lost faith
Started slow
Started to lose control
The more we accelerate
The more we accelerate
Can I send this kiss right to you now?
'Cause the risk belongs with you somehow
Can I return this kiss that you gave?
Already know it's borrowed anyway
Was the risk I sent to you received?
All the words we say to be believed?
I'm already over the thrill of pursuit
Where can I take the risk I took with you?
Send this kiss to someone new?
So there's no way to hide
Find some daylight
There's another way to leave the Garden of Eden
And I'm inclined to try
Find some daylight
Open my eyes
There's another way to leave the Garden of Eden
And I'm inclined to try

Annayum Rasoolum (2013)

What you get is Annayum Rasoolum when the story's this cliched and the director tries too hard to narrate the story in the manner that it's been narrated - with minimal dialogue and haunting music that follows you to the edge of s****. Fahadh Fasil is brilliant as usual, while Andreah Jeremiah is annoying as fuck, but looks nice as hell :) in her annoying pink sarees and floppy hair. Fahadh plays his characters to the tee with the stupid, vacant eyes, yet shows intelligence for comedy. We get it - Anna and Rasool want to be together but the series of random incidents won't let that happen. Then again, why should it? They really have no direct connection to their lives, and yet they do. Okay. We'll take it. Thank God for the BGM. Anna is painfully quiet, tolerating all that she has to endure. Not a word. *facepalm*. The parallel narration for the Ashley-Lily story was unnecessary. Who even cares :/. Why/how does his story have any say in A/R? Shane Nigam is brilliant as usual. (How can he slap?) Soubin Shahir is talent waiting to explode.

Maheshinte Prathikaram is another work of art. So is Njan Prakashan, although the latter is annoyingly commercial. Fahadh knows how to play the part and make himself look good, from beta male to ready-to-knock-your-teeth-out fighter. He sucks at the romantic scenes (unless you count the ones in Annayum Rasoolum), and shows support for his religion that is annoyingly similar to Kamal. We could honestly do with less of that.

1. Soubin Shahir
2. Shane Nigam
3. Fahadh Faasil

In that order.

Kando Kando is hauntingly beautiful. Sung by Andreah and played to show that she's falling for Rasool. Ente paavam kinaavil.. speaks of the imminent end to this story.

This movie and this song stick with you if you fall for it. Understand the formula at play here and maybe you can hold off.

Spiritual Pressure

When it gets too much, all you can do is stare at the floor as beads of sweat form on your forehead, pass out, or.. let your zanpaku-to grow. Rest in peace, Zabimaru!
Oh my sweet tentacles, Renji! :""(

Why does anime always have a character like Renji.. called Renji. :/
So typical, yet captivating all at the same time.

Bleach.

Rukia really doesn't ask for all this.
Ichigo's doing it anyway.
Ichigo's Dad is hilarious.
So are Jinta, Ururu and Don Kanonji.

Orihime is ingratiatingly sweet in accordance with anime laws.

Season x sucks.

Sleep - Dragonaut

Ride the dragon toward the crimson eye
Flap the wings under Mars red sky
The reptile pushes itself out into space
Leaving behind, the human race
Swim inside the solar seas
The Nebula cries out to me
Passing where I've gone before
I fly through the crimson door
Ride the dragon toward the crimson eye
Flap the wings under Mars red sky

Tragedies

Sridhar & Thayil represent BB like no other.
'Tis a tragedy that they are no longer on Spotify.
Jeet and Suman, it's time you made more music.
On another note,

It amazes me and oh, how I wish.

Thinly Veiled

Generic sounds, cliched progressions.
Dope, Pantera, Motograter, Machine Head.

Rise Against is an exception.
Dope can compete.
Pantera. 'Nuff said.

Punk. Death core. BDM/Rock.

Unintended Consequence

This one made its point without need for clarification. The transition from s- to h- is seamless, surprising, yet pleasant. New wave music if I ever saw it. Thou shall remain nameless.

Gulag Dreamscape

I will return to The Revenant one of these days. Ryuichi Sakomoto is amazing for the movie's theme music. Di Caprio is brilliant as ever, and so is Tom Hardy. The theme music reminds of another song that I knew of in 2016 that I can't seem to find right now. It could be an RS rendition. Remind me.

It is! Along with Alva Noto.

The Apocalypse Is Now

Any day now. Run for the hills. Where's my ladder? I need a big one.
I will emphasize very strongly at this moment that circus monkeys deserve mention, too. Not to mention the fact that primates are very intelligent creatures. I do not wish to degrade thy efforts - you astound me, but let's be realistic here and call a spade a spade. Thy efforts are lauded more than necessary, per usual, and the formula is well known and over used to the chagrin o-. We are on neutral ground here with intermittent stages of appreciation for thy efforts. Thy perseverance will come as no surprise albeit with pitfalls, and the circle continues. Do I print this?

"Yuvanism" (blark), Suriya, and Mounam Pesiyathe!

I. frickin'. love this song. Dumb as fuck movie, Mounam Pesiyathe.
Stupid lyrics (per usual) with Yuvan's bitch-ass voice belting it at top volume because his Dad's famous. Please. Seek your validation elsewhere, biatch, and save us the pain. My ear drums get enough already with DC and BDM because that is the new sh*********t!

Such. good. music. fuck. Plenty of that in this movie.

I do not give enough credit to Suriya, and his contributions to any project, trollolol. More on this later. Aaaanyway.
Peace.

And, oh my God.

I'm going to take a real, live moment out of my life here to gush about this one, because. Just because. If there is anything that the people of this sub-continent do right, it's this genre of music. Goddamn.

David - Manamey

Every few years, I return to music from David for it to blow me away. This time, it's with Manamey. I despise the filler words. *Smashes TV with guitar*. Abso-fucking-lutely hate it when a good song has filler words. WHAT THE FUUUCKKK.

But, the chorus is amazing.
